AIRPORTS
The nearest international airports to Stirling are Edinburgh (50 kilometres) and Glasgow (60 kilometres).
TO STIRLING FROM EDINBURGH AIRPORT
By train – Take the tram from the Airport terminal to Edinburgh Park (approximately 10 minutes). Trams leave every five minutes. At Edinburgh Park, take a train to Stirling (approximately 45 minutes). These trains leave approximately every 30 minutes.
By direct coach – A direct coach to Stirling leaves hourly from the airport Stand D and takes 55 minutes.
TO STIRLING FROM GLASGOW AIRPORT
Glasgow Airport Express (Number 500 from Stance 1) from the Airport to Glasgow Queen Street Rail station. These buses leave every 10 minutes and take around 15 minutes. At Glasgow Queen Street Rail Station, take a direct train to Stirling (approximately 30 minutes).
RAIL
Stirling has a mainline train station with trains to destinations across the UK. Most trains from London will require you to change at Edinburgh and Glasgow, but there are a small number of direct trains to and from London. A direct sleeper service departs from London Euston at 2115 on weekday evenings, the sleeper service leaves Stirling for London at 0011.
GETTING TO THE UNIVERSITY FROM STIRLING
The university is about 4.5 kilometres from the city centre.
Buses run from the rail station to the campus every ten minutes. These buses have ‘Unilink’ displayed on the front.
Taxis are available at the rail station and will cost about £9.
Getting to the conference
HEIRNET is taking place in the Pathfoot Building, the oldest builing in the university and home to the university’s art collection. If you are arriving by bus, you should get off at the first stop near the entrance to campus. The Pathfoot building is in front of you on top of a small hill.
